Nagarmotha is a perennial sedge with grass‑like leaves and underground rhizomes that store aromatic compounds. The roots are dug up when the plant matures, cleaned, dried thoroughly to prevent mold, and then stored carefully before distillation to preserve the characteristic woody aroma. Proper drying and handling of the roots helps concentrate the oil content and gives a richer, smoother fragrance in the final essential oil.
