Argan Oil that has no smell is suspicious, too. Moroccan goats tend to climb up the Argan trees for their leaves and ingest Argan Nuts in the process which they are unable to digest. Such nuts are excreted by the goats and are picked up by local, low-end producers. These Argan nuts, when pressed, produce Argan Oil that has a very rancid smell and is therefore deodorized to get rid of the smell. The process strips the oil of its key beneficial ingredients.

Types of Argan Oil
There are two types of Argan Oil – Cosmetic Argan Oil which is used for cosmetic and medical applications and Edible/Culinary Argan Oil. The differences between them are as below:

a. Cosmetic Argan Oil is cold pressed from raw Argan nuts without roasting them while Edible Argan Oil expelled from Argan nuts after roasting.

b. Cosmetic Argan Oil has a light aroma while Edible Argan Oil has strong nutty smell

c. Cosmetic Argan oil is Yellow while Edible Argan Oil is Red.

Composition of Argan Oil:
Argan Oil comprises of 80% fatty acids including Linoleic Acid. It also contains Vitamin E and Lipid Compounds derived from fatty acids, carotenoids, polyphenoles, acids and antioxidants. The benefits of the said compounds range from protection from UV radiation to reduction of stretch marks and wrinkles.
The anti-oxidants in Argan Oil are 80 times higher than in olive oil. Presence of Vitamin E also gives it potency to stabilize the cell membranes from a process called lipid peroxidation and neutralizing free radicals. Therefore, Argan Oil is a natural wonder at slowing the aging process of the skin.
