Prickly Pear Seed Oil is derived from the seeds of the Barbary Fig Cactus.  It takes over 1 million seeds and over 36 hours of manual labor to produce a single liter of oil.

The seeds contained significant amount of protein (4.13%), oil (11.5%), fibre (12.3%), β-carotene (56 μg/100g) and total carotenoids (289 μg/100 g). The seed oil contained high levels of linoleic (70%), palmitic (12.5%) and stearic (12.3%) acids. The main fatty acids were linoleic, oleic, palmitic and stearic acids with high unsaturation level (83%).Prickly pear fruit seeds is an important source of sugars, minerals, aminoacids, phenolic compounds, betalains, and vitamin C.

Minerals determined were: calcium 471.2 mg/kg, potassium 532.7 mg/kg, magnesium 117.3 mg/kg, phosphorus 1,627.5 mg/kg and natrium 71.3 mg/kg.

Inside the delicious fruits of the prickly pear are seeds that contain oil carrying different types of fatty acids, phenols, nutrients such as vitamin E, phytosterols, and antioxidants, which are beneficial for hair and all skin type.
